A real rest day…in Selkirk, Man.

McCatfish — Selkirk is Catfish Capital of…Manitoba? Canada?

I am ready for a real rest day, notwithstanding the three interviews and couple of other phone calls. I just want to veg. Eat. Snooze.

Two interviews down. Hal Anderson has possibly the hottest morning drive show in Winnipeg, and he has supported the ride with real enthusiasm. Gave Tom and I a wonderful opportunity to showcase SchoolBOX and the Cycle4SchoolBOX. Then a long conversation with Anna from the Village Post — a wonderful Toronto magazine that I have been reading loyally for many many years.

So I am sitting here and suddenly I recall a thought I had earlier this week — my idea of “the Unified Theory of Automotive Convergence”! This will not change our understanding of the universe, but I got a kick out of it. Here is how it goes:

1. You can ride your bike for many kilometers on rural roads and not encounter a single car. And when a car does approach you are guaranteed that another car will come in the opposite direction and that they will cross paths EXACTLY where you are, forcing you to the edge of the road.

2. Cars will accelerate when they approach ‘faster roads’ (e.g., highways) from ‘slower roads’, forcing you to the edge.

3. Cars will slow down when they approach ‘slower roads’ (e.g., rural gravel paths) from ‘faster roads’, forcing you to the edge.

OK, now my brain hurts and I need to rest. Talk to you later! :-)
